Job Description

The EU Business Performance Manager role is responsible for providing understanding of business performance while driving actionable insights to grow the EU business on eBay, by focusing on a particular country of the EU portfolio. The role also requires monthly forecasting of revenues and their drivers, as well as periodic reporting of progress against such financial targets.
Working closely with key finance partners as well as key business and analytics partners, the EU Business Performance Manager will perform two main activities:
1. Performance tracking and forecasting
  • Generate monthly forecasts for revenues and their drivers for a country within the EU business, by assessing business trends and liaising with the EU analytics team to understand and reflect business implications of new initiatives launched on the platform
  • On a regular basis, monitor the business performance of the country of responsibility and discuss it in meetings with the European leadership team, combining a good understanding of internal trends and initiatives with the external market perspective, in order to explain the drivers of variances vs. expectations and suggest potential actions
  • Work with the rest of the EU Countries and Verticals finance team to constantly innovate the way business performance is analysed and communicated, making sure that systems and processes are standardised and improved
2. Develop actionable insights to enable key decisions
  • Provide actionable insights to the business leaders and to the EU leadership team on long term trends as well as on deeper level drivers of business performance, on an analytical project basis, so that relevant business decisions can be taken in an informed fashion to improve business performance
  • Partner with a host of teams (analytics, marketing, strategy, business) to ensure that the most comprehensive view on mid/long-term performance is developed and that all possible factors are taken into account
  • Partner with business units to challenge their thinking, provide direction, and become a trusted adviser and impartial counsel
  • Undergraduate degree (ideally in a quantitative field), MBA a plus
  • Typically 8-12 years in an analytical environment
  • Significant experience in business analysis / finance preferred; retail experience a very strong plus
  • Proven ability in clearly defining a problem, collating the required information, analysing the results and synthesising a compelling argument
  • Advanced technical and financial skills in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Powerpoint etc.
  • Excellent Board/Executive level presentation / communication skills required
  • Pan European (or at least multi-country) experience beneficial
  • Fluency in English is a requirement, multiple EU language capabilities a plus
