Job Description

The general purpose of the Finance Director role is to lead the overall finance and accounting functions for Performance Tapes in Belgium.

The specific scope of the role incorporates:

People Leadership: Provide leadership in relation to Financial Management and drivechanges in capability, technical excellence, strategic focus, process improvement, prioritisation and execution. As such, the role should coach, develop, and retain finance talent. Promotes the Company’s Values and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.

Financial Controllership: Improve and maintain adequate controls over the company assets including the design and implementation of programs to provide reasonable assurance that fraud is prevented and detected.

Maintain the company’s financial processes such that no significant deficiencies in the design or operation of internal controls are likely to adversely affect the Company’s ability to record, process, and report financial data.

Business Partnership: help the business to set priorities and to drive strategy. In doing so, support the various functions and General Management with rigorous analysis and insight to business drivers.

The scope of the role incorporates providing monthly financial information to the European Leadership Team and to Corporate to enable informed financial business decisions.

Process Improvement: Establish a process mindset and drive Avery’s commitment to Lean within the Finance function, through the training in, and application of ELS and Six Sigma tools, including Kaizen’s, standardisation and process improvement.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience in Financial Management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• US Gaap and IAS/IFRS reporting.
• Prior experience working in a matrix
• University degree
• MBA qualifications would be highly regarded.
• Excellent business acumen, with strong knowledge of US legislative and compliance requirements,
• High level of technical & analytical skills and effective utilisation of the most up-to-date and current finance practices, systems, and processes.
• Strong strategic capability with the ability to influence decisions and directions.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, influencing and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively present financial information and express financial concepts in a manner understandable by different organizational levels.
• Fluent in English and Dutch
• Experience in a union/works council environment
